Watch the pattern. Then repeat it.

Pattern Memory is a free memory game for kids. The pads light up one at a time — each with its own musical note — and then it is your turn to tap them back in the same order.

It starts gently: four big, friendly pads and a two-step pattern. Then it grows with you — more pads, longer patterns and faster flashes, right up to a nine-pad board and an eleven-step sequence.

How it plays

  • Watch the pads light up and listen to the notes
  • When it says "Your turn", tap the pads in the same order
  • Get it right and the pattern gets one step longer
  • Get it wrong and nothing bad happens — the same pattern simply plays again
  • Tap "Watch again" any time you want to see the pattern once more

Built for young learners

  • Ages 4+ — no reading needed to play
  • Every pad has a colour AND a picture, so it still works if colours are hard to tell apart
  • Big, finger-sized pads that work on phones, tablets and computers
  • Gentle feedback: a mistake is part of learning, never a dead end
  • No ads, no sign-ups, no tracking, nothing to install

Details

  • 10 levels that get harder as you go: 4 pads, then 6, then 9
  • Patterns grow one step longer every round (Level 10 ends on an 11-step pattern)
  • Flashes get faster at higher levels (850 ms down to 440 ms per step)
  • Musical chimes — every pad is a note on a friendly pentatonic scale
  • Stars, score and best result saved for each level on your device
  • Keyboard play too: number keys 1–9 tap the pads, R replays the pattern
  • Runs in any modern browser, and keeps working offline once loaded

For teachers and parents

Pattern Memory is a calm five-minute brain break that builds working memory and attention. Use it to settle a class after lunch, to start a lesson, or as a reward. Start at Level 1 and let children work upward — the difficulty ramp is built in.

Controls Mouse or finger: tap a pad to repeat the next step of the pattern. Keyboard: number keys 1–9 tap pads, R replays the pattern, and the sound button mutes.
